1A: The LGBTQ community and your library (9-217): Alvin Schrader, University of Alberta, and Tim Janewski, The King’s University
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and queer (LGBTQ) people are our coworkers, friends, family members and also our library customers. Dr. Alvin Schrader from the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Tim Janewski from The King’s University Library will help NEOS library staff to develop an awareness of the issues and challenges faced by LGBTQ people.
1B: What’s my impact?: How to establish an online researcher profile & create an impact report using citation counts, h-index figures, and altmetrics (9-216): Diane Clark Jessica Thorlakson, University of Alberta
Learn how to create a research impact report for faculty, researchers and grad students. Report will include h-index, citation figures, and alternative metrics.
1C: Scholarly resources and Indigenous Knowledge: A necessary unity? (9-215): Anne Carr-Wiggin, University of Alberta, and Martha Campiou
Students’ path to mature scholarship involves learning the value and use of scholarly, evidence-based information resources. Areas of research that include Indigenous peoples and cultures may also need to incorporate a respect for traditional knowledge. How can we help students make appropriate use of mainstream scholarly resources and Indigenous ways of knowing?

2A: NEOS Speed networking (Room 9-100 -The Heart): John Huck, University of Alberta
Speed networking is a structured form of networking that allows participants to meet and have brief one-on-one conversations with many people in a short span of time (about ten to twelve people in an hour). The goal is to meet new people and discover shared connections or common interests. This session will be an opportunity for individual NEOS staff to develop their professional contacts within NEOS, share their personal experiences working in NEOS and hear about the experiences of others. The open-ended format, guided by a facilitator, allows conversations to follow any topic of mutual interest. No preparation is required, but session attendees should bring a dozen or more business cards or prepared slips with their contact information.
2B: How a simple idea was transformed into reality: Centralized ILL for NEOS libraries (9-217): Mary Medinsky, Red Deer College, and CJ de Jong, University of Alberta
Implementing a service that requires the collaboration of numerous partners is bound to hit some roadblocks. This presentation will share the experience of implementing centralized ILL for five NEOS libraries and how we succeeded by keeping our eye on the prize.
2C: Access points in the local catalogue: the unauthorised story (9-216): Brian Stearns, University of Alberta
The project to check and revise all of our authority records was a huge undertaking of the past year. This session will discuss the outcomes of the project, ongoing maintenance, and future work relating to authority records.

3C: International partnership in Vietnam: experiences and lessons (9-216): Sam Popowich, University of Alberta
Experiences and lessons learned during a one week visit to an academic library in Vietnam, to deliver workshops, and collaborate with Vietnamese colleagues.
3C: Alberta Open Government Portal: Challenges and opportunities (9-215): Gary Weber, Kirk MacLeod and Louisa Robison, Alberta Government Library
An introduction to the Government of Alberta’s Open Government Portal, which aims to make all government publications and open data publicly available through one central online repository.
